"EmoReality" Program

The “EmoReality” Program aims to help children recognize, express, and regulate their emotions by integrating innovative technology with psychology. It also fosters greater understanding and support from parents regarding their children’s emotional needs.

The curriculum is rooted in clinical psychology and the Adaptive Leadership framework from the Harvard Kennedy School. It incorporates immersive virtual reality art creation, allowing children to express their inner world through non-verbal means while nurturing emotional intelligence and social skills.

Meanwhile, parents will learn practical parenting techniques to create a positive communication environment and provide emotional support at home. This program not only enhances parent-child interaction but also pioneers the integration of STEAM and emotional education, laying a strong foundation for students’ holistic development.

UBS "Smartizen: the Future Decision-Maker" Program

Supported by UBS, the “Smartizen: the Future Decision-Maker” program is implemented in collaboration with several local primary schools. The program aims to cultivate children’s life planning abilities, self-directed learning, and leadership potential from an early stage. It inspires children to “take charge of their own lives,” enabling them to grow through exploration and transform through challenges.

The program emphasizes “authentic experiences”. Hong Kong Children In Need Foundation has designed a series of workshops focusing on STEAM, wealth management, and holistic well-being, both physical and mental. Through these workshops, students shift from traditional passive learning to becoming active decision-makers, experiencing how to take charge of their life choices and directions.

Additionally, Hong Kong Children In Need Foundation has developed a unique “CINcubation” card game, where students learn about the relationship between various professions and skillsets through engaging gameplay. This helps them grasp the concepts of career orientation and life planning while unleashing their potential in a diverse environment.

Between 2024 and 2026, the “Smartizen: the Future Decision-Maker” program will benefit approximately 250 students from 5 primary schools. The program aims to expand further, with the goal of reaching more schools in the future.

AWS STEAMazing 2024-2025

Hong Kong Children in Need Foundation is honored to receive full support from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in launching a brand-new education initiative—”AWS STEAMazing 2024-2025.” This program aims to cultivate primary school students into a new generation equipped with critical thinking, creativity, and environmental awareness.

This groundbreaking initiative creates a barrier-free STEAM learning journey through three core activity modules that engage students in hands-on exploration of renewable energy, global warming, and energy transformation.

The program fosters curiosity and applied learning through dynamic workshops, interactive challenges, and collaborative problem-solving activities. By addressing real-world issues, students develop a deeper understanding of sustainability while building skills for the future.

Key highlights of the program include the “Mobile Classroom”, which introduces students to renewable energy and sustainable development goals (SDGs), and the “Sustainability STEAM Workshop”, featuring the innovative “LadyBug Challenge,” where participants experiment and compete in gaming activities.

The program culminates in the “AWS STEAMazing 2024-2025 Grand Finale,” where students design and race electric vehicle models while presenting socially impactful inventions. This initiative has already reached over 300 students across four partner schools—empowering them to become creative problem solvers and future changemakers.

CLP Education Fund (2024-2025)

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the CLP Education Fund for sponsoring the “Spark to Speed: STEAM Adventures in Electric Cars” workshop, held for 100 Primary 4 students at NTWJWA Leung Sing Tak Primary School.

Through a specially designed educational booklet, the workshop introduced students to the scientific principles behind electric vehicles, their environmental benefits, and the applications of renewable energy. It inspired students to envision future cities and embrace sustainable living.

During the hands-on session, students assembled and personalized their own electric vehicles, gaining fundamental knowledge of mechanical structural design and circuit connections. This activity also fostered students’ problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.

This educational journey not only enhanced students’ interest and abilities in STEAM fields but also inspired them to explore a sustainable future through innovative thinking.

INventoo – STEM Inventors in School Project
(2023-2026)

“INventoo,” with aid from OSC, is a 3-year collaboration project with three primary schools to equip teachers and students with STEM resources and knowledge. HKCIN will adopt an intensive ‘train-the-trainer’ approach. Trained teachers with STEM skills will lead a group of students to join a STEM open competition followed by integrating STEM contents to their classes. After the training and trial sessions, each primary school will have a detailed curriculum for the teachers to replicate the same model for 3 more group of students per year.

"STEM Maker in School" (2020-2023)

“STEM Maker in School”, with aid from Operation Santa Claus, is a three-year collaborative project that empowers teachers with resources and knowledge to educate the younger generation. With the focus on Micro:bit and Thunkable.

Micro:bit is a popular pocket-sized microcontroller board that allows young children to learn programming in a handy way. Thunkable is a drag and drop mobile app builder that enables anyone to create their own native apps.

HKCIN will adopt the train-the-trainer approach where trained teachers with STEAM skills will integrate STEAM contents into their classes. After trial lessons and continuous consultancy with HKCIN, the primary schools will have designed a tailored STEAM curriculum that reaches students in two forms per year.
